Phân tích đề
- Dạng bài: Task 2 – Discuss both views and give your opinion. Bắt buộc bàn cả hai quan điểm VÀ nêu rõ ý kiến cá nhân (ở mở bài, thân bài 2 và kết bài).
- Tách hai quan điểm:
- View 1: Setting goals → is → the key to success.
- View 2: Setting goals → can be → restrictive (gò bó, thiếu linh hoạt).
- setting goals → goal setting / having clear targets
- the key to success → essential for achieving success
- restrictive → limit people's flexibility / hold people back
- Quan điểm chọn: ủng hộ View 1, với 2 lý do: (1) mang lại định hướng và mục đích, (2) tăng sự cam kết và bền bỉ.

Some people believe that setting goals is essential for achieving success, while others argue that it can limit people's flexibility. Despite some arguments against this practice, I strongly believe that setting clear goals is beneficial in the long run.
A compelling argument can be made that setting goals can be restrictive. This is because people who focus too closely on a fixed target may ignore new opportunities or feel unable to change direction when their circumstances change. For example, a student who is determined to become a doctor may overlook other careers that suit his strengths better, and may feel stressed if his grades are not perfect. Nonetheless, this line of reasoning is flawed because the root cause of such problems lies not in goal setting itself, but in setting goals that are too rigid or overly ambitious. If people break their goals into smaller, achievable steps and review them regularly, they can stay flexible while still making progress. Therefore, the drawbacks of goal setting can be managed.
In spite of some solvable drawbacks, I firmly contend that setting goals brings far more advantages for two main reasons. Firstly, it gives people a sense of direction and purpose. Without clear goals, people may become distracted and unsure of what to prioritise, whereas those with well-defined targets tend to stay focused and manage their time effectively. For instance, a student who decides to study abroad can create a step-by-step plan, such as improving his grades and preparing for language tests. More importantly, clear goals can strengthen people's commitment and resilience. Many successful athletes, for example, continue training intensively through injuries and defeats because they are working towards a clear target, such as winning a gold medal. Thus, not only can setting goals guide people's daily actions, but it can also help them keep going when they face difficulties.
In conclusion, both perspectives on goal setting have valid points. Nevertheless, I fervently believe that people should set clear goals because they provide direction and help people stay committed, which increases their chances of success.

It is indisputable that the impacts of establishing one's targets have garnered widespread attention in recent years Some people believe that setting goals is essential for success, while others argue that it can limit people's flexibility. Despite some arguments against this behavior practice, I strongly believe that defining setting clear goals is beneficial in the long run.
A compelling argument can be made that setting goals may create unnecessary stress can be restrictive, as people who focus too closely on a fixed target may ignore new opportunities and feel unnecessary stress. For example, a student who always aims for perfect grades in every subject may feel constant academic pressure, which has can have a detrimental impact on their his mental well-being, leading to a decline in their overall health and academic performance and even his academic performance. Nonetheless, this line of reasoning is flawed because the root cause of such a negative influence lies not in goal setting itself, but in poor planning skills. Instead of setting overly ambitious targets, people they can break them down into smaller and more achievable steps, so they can attain such targets in an easier way reach them more easily while avoiding the psychological problems mentioned above. Therefore, the disadvantages of goal setting can be managed.
In spite of some solvable drawbacks, I firmly contend that planning for success setting goals brings about more advantages for two main reasons. Firstly, it may create gives people a sense of direction and purpose. Without clear goals, people may stay become distracted and unsure of what to prioritize during the work processise. Conversely, those with well-defined targets tend to stay focused and manage their time effectively. For instance, a student who decides to study abroad can make a step-by-step schedule, such as improving their his academic results and preparing for necessary language tests. Additionally, the visualization of goals helps to enhance More importantly, clear goals can strengthen commitment and resilience. To illustrate, successful athletes can train intensively while keeping their goals often continue training intensively through injuries and defeats because they are working towards goals such as winning gold medals or breaking world records.
In conclusion, both perspectives on whether defining setting goals is advantageous have valid points. Nevertheless, I fervently believe that people should set objectives frequently clear goals because not only can it this contribute to personal growth, but it can also increases the likelihood of career success.
Nhận xét của thầy
- Điểm mạnh: đúng khung Discuss both views (kể cả kết bài); phản biện rất tốt, chỉ ra gốc rễ là cách lập kế hoạch kèm giải pháp chia nhỏ mục tiêu; lý do 1 ở thân bài 2 có so sánh (Conversely) và ví dụ cụ thể; ngữ pháp chính xác.
- Mở bài chưa nêu hai quan điểm: dạng Discuss both views cần paraphrase CẢ HAI phía ngay câu đầu ("Some people believe that…, while others argue that…").
- Trình bày lệch quan điểm phía bên kia: đề nói đặt mục tiêu là "restrictive" (gò bó, thiếu linh hoạt), nhưng thân bài 1 chỉ nói về căng thẳng. Nên nêu đúng ý "gò bó" trước, căng thẳng là ý phụ.
- Ví dụ chưa chặt: "the visualization of goals", "can train intensively while keeping their goals" gượng; cần nêu vì sao mục tiêu giúp bền bỉ (tiếp tục tập luyện dù chấn thương, thất bại).
- Kết bài: "set objectives frequently" sai ý (vấn đề là mục tiêu RÕ RÀNG, không phải đặt THƯỜNG XUYÊN).
- Mức độ khẳng định: "which has a detrimental impact… leading to a decline in their overall health" quá chắc chắn; dùng "can / may".
- Dùng từ: "during the work process" thừa; "behavior", "prioritize", "visualization" nên thống nhất chính tả Anh – Anh; "in an easier way" → "more easily".
